Real estate became a strong interest as an investor in my hometown of Savanna, Illinois. A special property owned was an 1865 riverboat captain's mansion that had been built on the homestead of the first pioneer family to settle in the area. His wife was the daughter of this family. The mansion had been altered into four apartments in 1922.

The sale of this and other properties acquired was what financed my family's return to Tucson where we have lived and raised three children in a classic burnt adobe ranch style home for over 30 years.

I firmly believe (1) that purchase of a home is an asset that provides stability for a family, a sense of belonging to a community and a catalyst to become engaged as a volunteer and participant in community events.

I firmly believe (2) a home still remains a basic investment to build wealth and can be the first step to building a portfolio of income producing properties for retirement and to provide the additional income for college tuition, travel, philantropic causes and unexpected needs.

It is always a joy to see someone acquire their first home. I provide a monthly workshop "No Place Like Home" on the third Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm at my Keller Williams Office, 1745 E. River Road, Suite 245. RSVP by noon Wednesday: jaymccall@kwrealty.com  520-909-9375
